Inscription. The SR-71 could cruise at speeds in excess of Mach 3, three times the speed of sound-at altitudes of 80,000 feet. On March 6, 1990 an SR-71 flew coast to coast in 68 minutes 17 seconds.

This is Tail Number 64-17951, the second SR-71 "Blackbird" to be built and flown. Its first flight was on March 5,1965; its last on November 7, 1979.
