This tablet
is erected by the Pennsylvania Society
of
Sons of the Revolution
as a memorial to the soldiers and patriots
of the Revolution
who suffered in this building as prisoners of war
during the occupation of Philadelphia
by the British Army, 1777 - 1778.
and also to commemorate
the evacuation of the city by that army
June 19, 1778.
