1. Fort Miamis Connection Marker

Inscription. As allies, the British government supported the Western Confederacy with supplies but did not authorize soldiers to assist in battle.

For the British, the garrison at Fort Miamis was strictly a defensive barrier to Wayne's march northward. The British commander was ordered not to fire on the Americans unless fired upon. However, a contingency of 60 members of the Canadian Militia joined the Natives' fight from there. This effort is considered by some to be Canada's first foreign engagement.

Location. 41° 33.326′ N, 83° 41.584′ W. Marker is in Maumee, Ohio, in Lucas County. Marker can be reached from North Jerome Road south of Monclova Road, on the left when traveling south. This marker is located on the grounds of the Fallen Timbers Battlefield, Metropark, in a clearing near the northern border of the park, and is the fifteenth in a series of markers seen along the Fallen Timbers Battlefield, walking trail. More about this marker. This particular marker is one of two markers located in an area that is part of the main park trail known as the "Meadow Node." The node area is surrounded by a number of large, rough cut, rectangular, stones, sitting in a clearing near the northern border of the metropark.
