Inscription.
Guayaquil el 20 de septiembre de 1908 con el fin de rendir homenaje a la memoria del "Abel Americano".

Su altura total es de 8.50 metros, contando con una base principal que contiene 2 placas de bronce hacia los costados y el Escudo del Ecuador hacia al frente, flanqueado con las palabras "A Sucre Guayaquil".

Sobre la base en mención se desarrolla un conjunto escultórico en el que se aprecia un instante de la Batalla de Pichincha y en él, las imágenes del General José María Córdova, sable en mano, y el Teniente Abdón Calderón portando en su mano la bandera del batallón Yaguachi.

Es de destacar una imagen de Sucre mas pequeña que dá hacia el oeste y en la que, el Mariscal de Ayacucho tiene posados sus pies en dos montículos, en clara alegoria a los montes Pichincha y Potosí.

El conjunto remata con la monumental escultura de Antonio José de Sucre llevando una espada al cinto y un anteojo de larga vista en sus manos.

La Estatua fue erigida por los Guayaguileños con el fin de rendir homenaje a la memoria de quien fuera uno de los héroes más importantes nacidos en el Continente Americano.

English translation:
Guayaquil on September 20, 1908 pays tribute to the memory of the "American Abel".

Its total height is 8.50 meters, with a main base containing 2 bronze plates to the sides

The sculpture is based on a moment of the Battle of Pichincha, with General José María Córdova, sword in hand, and Lieutenant Abdon Calderon, holding in his hand the flag of the Yaguachi Battalion.

It is worth noting that a smaller image of Sucre faces west with the Marshal of Ayacucho's feet perched on two hills in clear allegory to the Pichincha and Potosi mountains.
The monumental sculpture of Antonio Jose de Sucre is carrying a sword at his side and spyglass in his hands.

The statue was erected by the citizens of Guayaquil in order to pay tribute to the memory of one of the most important heroes born in the Americas.
