Regarding The Hidalgo House and Museum. Miguel Hidalgo was awoken from this house early on September 16, 1810 and was warned that an anti-Spanish government plot, of which he was a part, had been discovered and many of his co-conspirators arrested. He ordered the church bells rung at 2:30 am and gathered a large crowd. From near here at the Catholic Church of Dolores he gave the famous "Cry of Dolores" that started the 11-year War of Independence.
