Regarding Birthplace of Ignacio Allende. José Ignacio Allende y Unzaga (b. San Miguel de Allende, 1769 - d. Chihuahua 1811) was one of the leaders and initiators of the independence movement of Mexico. Captain of Spanish militias, he sympathized with the idea of independence. He attended the first secret meetings of the rebellion organized in Querétaro and fought alongside Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in the first stages of the War of Independence. He relieved Hidalgo as the military leader of the insurgents. In Acatita de Baján, Coahuila, he was betrayed and arrested by Ignacio Elizondo, along with Miguel Hidalgo, Abasolo Mariano, Mariano Jiménez and Juan Aldama and taken to the city of Chihuahua where he was tried for insubordination,

2. Additional marker at the Birthplace of Ignacio Allende

English translation:
This city has always claimed for its illustrious son, Ignacio Allende, the glory of having been the first promoter of national independence: a constant tradition says so and is corroborated by supporting evidence. The illustrious Miguel Hidalgo says in his statement: "I had several conversations with Ignacio Allende about independence, without any objective on his part and pure conversation...I never thought to seriously consider Independence, unlike Ignacio Allende who was always proposed to act. I was not resolved to take part in the revolutionary movement, until the second time I was invited by Allende.”
The General Congress decreed on October 24, 1823 that compensation be given to the heirs of Ignacio Allende as expressed in Article 3 and that be granted in recognition of the extraordinary merit of Ignacio Allende.

The City Council agreed that this inscription be erected on September 16, 1893.
