A iniciativa del Señor Cura Don Enrique Larrea
Se comenzó este monumento el 12 de noviembre de 1930.

Escudo con texto de: Maria Dei et Apostolicae sedis gratia episcopus leoneses iosephus
(Traducción al español: Gracias a María, Dios y de la Sede Apostólica, Josephus, Obispo de León)


y se inauguro el 3 de agosto de 1932.

Al Excmo. Y Revmo. Señor Doctor y Maestro Don Jose Maria de Jesus Diez de Sollano y Davalos. Primer Obispo de Leon, por su esclarecida ciencia, por sus virtudes y por sus gloriosos hechos de pastor infatigable, le dedica este monumento con respeto y cariño, el actual párroco de la ciudad en unión del pueblo que se le ha confiado.

Nacio en esta ciudad el 25 de noviembre de 1820, haciendo sus primeros estudios en el Colegio de Sales. Paso a la capital de la Republica, donde fue honra ilustre del seminario de La Universidad Mexicana. Ya como alumno, ya principalmente como maestro y como rector, siendo laureado, con justicia en la misma universidad, con la borla de doctor en filosofía y teología.

Recibio la dignidad del sacerdocio el 1 de junio de 1844, fue promovido al episcopado como obispo titular de Troade, el 7 de abril de 1862 y nombrado obispo de Leon, el 7 de abril de 1863 ilustro a su pueblo sin descanso, con su palabra y con sus virtudes, defendió

To the Honorable and Right Doctor and Teacher José Maria de Jesús Diez de Sollano and Dávalos. First Bishop of León, for his enlightened study of science, for his virtues and his glorious deeds as a tireless pastor, this monument is dedicated to him with respect and affection by the current pastor of the city in conjunction with the people who put their trust in him.

He was born in this city on November 25, 1820, completing his first studies at the College de Sales. Moving to the capital of the Republic, he was honored at the illustrious Seminary of the University of Mexico, as a student, teacher and rector, also as a laureate, and with justice at the same university, with doctorate degrees in philosophy and theology.

He received the dignity of the priesthood on June 1, 1844, was promoted to the episcopate as titular Bishop of Troade, on April 7, 1862 and appointed Bishop of León on

April 7, 1863, teaching his people tirelessly with his word and his virtues. He courageously defended the rights of the church, and died in his episcopal city on June 7, 1881.
