This Brigade advanced from its bivouac near Alexander's Bridge soon after daylight, and struck Croxton's Brigade of Brannan's Division at Jay's Saw Mill at 7:30 a.m. While engaged with Croxton and awaiting the arrival of Infantry support the Brigade lost nearly one fourth of its numbers. Soon after 8 o'clock the right was attacked by Van Derveer's Brigade of Brannan's Division advancing from the Ringgold Road to the assistance of Croxton. Between 8 and 9 o'clock Wilson's Infantry Brigade of Walker's Division arrived on its left, and an hour later Ector's Brigade of the same Division went in on Wilson's right. Location. 34° 55.715′ N, 85° 13.797′ W. Marker is near Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, in Catoosa County. Marker is at the intersection of Brotherton Road and Jays Mill Road, on the right when traveling west on Brotherton Road. This tablet is located in the national park that preserves the site of the Chickamauga Battlefield, very near the site of Jay's Mill, a short distance west of the nearby intersection of the two park roadways. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
