More about this monument. Large cannonball pyramids, stacked 15 high, mark the spot where commanders were killed during the Battle of Chickamauga. Smaller cannonball pyramids, stacked 7 high, mark the locations of a headquarters. These monuments where designed by E. E. Betts, engineer and installed on the battlefield between 1893 and 1985.
