Coan Lake was constructed in the fall of 1988. The lake is 3 acres, with a depth of nine to eighteen feet. The property the lake sits on was once known as the Schoncheck Farm. Stocked with a variety of fish, it provides a passive setting for a historical village.

Coan Lake is named after Peter Coan, first registered land owner in Taylor Township.
