Gaines and Gassaway Store | Additional Description: When the railroad terminal moved to Greenvile, a few stories in Central closed. R.G. Gaines and Gassaway on Gains Street remained open and even expanded into a two-story brick store with an elevator. Gaines and Gassaway actively traded in general merchandise, farm livestock, and cotton bales. (Source:
