Additional Description: Dr Nelson S. Freeman, his wife Mary and their children arrived in Farmington in 1856. Their house is still standing at the southern end of the village. He practiced medicine most of his life and served as a Union Army surgeon during the Civil War. In Farmington he held the position of Post Master, Township Trustee and Treasurer and was also a merchant.
