Caption: Nearby Historic Trail Markers Sign
Additional Description:
Lucy Stone Marker

This marker is located on private property across the street and a short distance south. The script reads:
"Here on July 4, 1856, Lucy Stone, 'Morning Star of the Woman's Rights movement' delivered the first women's rights and anti slavery address ever given by a woman in the great northwest. The platform fell, rising unhurt, she exclaimed 'So will this nation fall unless slavery is abolished'" [sic]

Grateful appreciation is given to Dr. C.V. Porter whose hard work and dedication preserved this segment of history for all.
