Peter Lebeck Tree Bark Inscription
Photographer: Thomas Chris English
Taken: June 18, 2010
Caption: Peter Lebeck Tree Bark Inscription
Additional Description: Early markers were sometimes done by inscribing a tree trunk with information. As decades passed, the tree healed itself, covering the inscription with fresh growth. In the Peter Lebeck example, the bark covered Lebeck's final story, preserving it to be found by future generations.
