10-Inch Confederate Columbiad
Photographer: Craig Swain
Taken: May 3, 2010
Caption: 10-Inch Confederate Columbiad
Additional Description: The artillery walk offers a good comparison to the Rodman guns of the same caliber, here in the background. Notice the Confederate Columbiad used a near cylindrical section behind the trunnions, then used the sloping lines of the Rodman. The Confederate weapon also appears lumpy or rough on the surface, since it was not "turned" on a lathe to smooth the exterior appearance.
