Caption: Miners Exchange Plaque
Additional Description: Mounted on the wall in the hotel's bar is an additional historical marker by the Matuca Chapter of E Clampus Vitus, reading: "The Miners Exchange stood near this site, forerunner of Murphys Hotel. The three story frame building erected as a hotel by P. Birmingham as in late 1852, its luxuries including large beds, with mattresses, clean sheets and blankets void of fleas. It burned down in Murphy's big fire Aug. 19, 1859. Formerly a hotel, now unoccupied, owned by Sperry & Perry."
