Caption: The Circle Fountain - 1911/1996
Additional Description: The original fountain, designed by John Galen Howard and featuring four grizzly cubs sculpted by Arthur Putnam, was Berkeley's first public work of art. The fountain was destroyed in 1958 by a runaway truck coming down Marin Avenue. The new fountain was replicated and installed in 1996.
