Additional Description: Looking from the bluffs at Columbus, where the Confederate fortifications stood, towards Belmont Landing on the Missouri shore of the river. At the time of the battle, Camp Johnson stood in an open area near the river bank. Around the camp were felled trees formed as abatis.
