Interior of Gordon School
Photographer: Michael D Martin
Taken: January 22, 2011
Caption: Interior of Gordon School
Additional Description: This is an original 1875 log structure from Gordon Canyon, 30 miles east of Payson AZ, and was originally the home of William Gordon and his family. When the Gordon family grew too large to live comfortably in this structure, they moved out and it was converted to a schoolhouse. Classes were taught here from 1880 to 1922. The interior furnishings reflect a typical school in the 1890's Arizona Territory. The schoolhouse was the first fully restored building on the grounds of the Pioneer Living History Village.
