Additional Description: During the Confederate retreat south following the Battle of Gettysburg, Confederate Cavalry brigades under Gen. Fitzhugh Lee and Gen. John R. Chamblis, Jr. met and repelled pursuing Union forces. Col. Drake fell during this engagement.
