Additional Description: "Veterans" status was granted to American Merchant Marines for oceangoing services during the period of armed conflict, December 7, 1941 to August 15, 1945 World War II. The Merchant Marine flag flown here and this plaque are in memory of Master William M. Martino and Messman William C. Messick.
