Caption: Nearby Sign – Gardens
Additional Description: Many old country traditions were brought by the immigrants that settled in this area.
One was the planting of gardens so they would have fresh vegetables for their meals. Also, they would can tomatoes, peas, corn and other vegetables to have for the winter months.
Some raised chickens, cows and pigs. Any surplus of vegetables, eggs, milk and meat they might have, they would sell at the village market.
