Additional Description: The monument stands near the site where Natan Hale arrived in Huntington by boat from Norwalk, Conn. Hale was sent here on a spying mission for Gen. George Washington, to gather information about British activities In New York City and on Long Island. He was captured and executed in September 1776 in New York City.
