Historic St. Paul’s Chapel | Additional Description: During the British occupation of Manhattan during the Revolutionary War, a fire burned down most of lower Manhattan. St. Paul's, being farther north, was not damaged.
On 9/11/2001 the World Trade Center, located adjacent to the churchyard, rained down debris on the church. Again, St. Paul's avoided destruction.
