Twenty-seventh Site on the Historic Sites of Abbeville Tour
Often called Mr. Visanska's Castle, it was designed in a modified Steamboat Gothic style and is now missing the widow's walk on the roof top. (Source: Historic Sites Tour of Abbeville County by the Abbeville Visitors Council (2010), pg 13.) This house once belonged to one of Abbeville's prominent Jewish families, G.A. Visanska. G.A. Visanska and Philip Rosenberg became partners in 1877, and their business interests prospered in the 1880s.
