Additional Description:
208 Washington Street
Twelfth Site on the Historic Sites of Abbeville Tour
Built around 1906, the congregation originally worshiped in a small wooden building several blocks to the east. Looking towards the bottom of the hill on Poplar Street is the Old Spring, which was donated for public use in the late 1700s by General Andrew Pickens. Now capped, the proximity of the spring has been cited as the selection of the present square. (Source: Historic Sites Tour of Abbeville County by the Abbeville Visitors Council (2010), pg 8.)
