H. J. Heinz Co. Original Factory | Additional Description: Original factory of H. J. Heinz Co. in front of the North Side Plant.
In 1854, H. J. Heinz's father John, built a house for his family on Mail Street in Sharpsburgh. The house later became the first H. J. Heinz Factory. In 1904, the house was moved five miles down the Allegheny River to the main North Side plant as a memorial to the founding of the company.
