Additional Description: Expelled from Germany in 1872 during Otto von Bismarck's Kulturkampf, Father Joseph Strub (1833-1890) moved first to Ohio and then to Pittsburgh. There, in 1878, he and fellow Spiritans opened the Pittsburgh Catholic College of the Holy Ghost (today's Duquesne University), the first Catholic college in Pittsburgh.
