Caption: Lt. Richard Wickes Marker
Additional Description: Lt. Richard Wickes was mortally wounded on June 29, 1776 during the Battle of Turtle Gut Inlet, which was fought off the coast of nearby Wildwood Crest. He is buried at the Cold Spring Presbyterian Church, located about 3½ miles to the north.
