Additional Description: This monument erected in 1926 and overlooking Plattsburgh Bay, commemorates the victory of Commodore Thomas MacDonough in the Battle of Plattsburgh, September 11, 1814 in this concluding naval engagement of the War of 1812. This plaque mounted by the Battle of Plattsburgh Day Commission was unveiled September 11, 1964 upon the 150th anniversary of the battle.
