Caption: Hoffmann's Brigade in Reserve
Additional Description: While the rest of the division advanced down the western side of the Hagerstown Pike, Hoffmann's Brigade was held back on the south edge of the North Woods, just as the terrain rises here. The Brigade protected the artillery massed in this sector.
