Caption: Green End Fort
Additional Description: The redoubt built by the British in 1777 is seen here near the northwest corner of Green End Pond. It was at the eastern end of British defensive lines around Newport, and was attacked by American forces during the August 29, 1778 Battle of Rhode Island.
