Additional Description: For many years without sight, he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. Weak in body, yet strong in mind, this holy and humble man of heart, both as priest and bishop of the church, adorned the doctrine of God, our savior in all things.

The diocese of South Carolina, stablished (sic), strengthened, settled in the faith, by his episcopate. Blessed in his life, bereaved in his death, erects this monument as a grateful tribute to his memory.
