Additional Description: This house at 216 Moultrie Square was built around 1840. While serving as a Confederate general, Capers was wounded several times and was cited for great bravery. He studied for the ministry after the Civil War and was elevated to Seventh Bishop of the Episcopal Church of South Carolina.
