Additional Description: This identical marker is located in Theodore Roosevelt's Birthhouse in New York City. Roosevelt was Assistant Secretary of the Navy when the U.S.S. Maine was destroyed, and served as Lieutenant Colonel of the First United States Volunteer Cavalry (the Rough Riders) during the Spanish American War.
