Additional Description: In celebration of General Thomas Sumter’s 250th birthday, 1734 ~ 1984, the First Baptist Church sponsored this tree replacement in gratitude for occasional use of first court house on this site, 1802. The congregation, organized 1813, erected the first church in Sumterville, 1820
