Confederate View of the Federal Batteries
Photographer: Craig Swain
Taken: April 6, 2008
Caption: Confederate View of the Federal Batteries
Additional Description: From the National Cemetery looking east. The Federal horse batteries went into action on the high ground along the Boonsboro Pike. While Tidball's Battery A, 2nd U.S. occupied the open high ground just center left, the other batteries were deployed at positions behind the trees seen along the Pike in the center of of the photo. At first just a light cavalry screen covered the batteries, but as the situation developed the U.S. Regular Infantry regiments deployed across this valley to cover the artillery.
