Caption: Advance of the Regulars
Additional Description: Further west on the Boonsboro Pike stands a sign post indicating Advanced position reached by the right of the skirmish line of the Second and Tenth U.S. Infantry on the afternoon of September 17, 1862. In the background runs Rodman Avenue. The line of utility poles behind the sign is approximately the location of the old Pike road bed, and where the road passed at the time of the battle.
