The Regulars Skirmish Line
Photographer: Craig Swain
Taken: April 6, 2008
Caption: The Regulars Skirmish Line
Additional Description: Looking from a field just east of Rodman Avenue towards the intersection with the Boonsboro Pike. This photo was taken from along the fence row in the distant center of the previous photo. After 3 p.m, Elements 2nd and 10th U.S. Infantry were deployed as skirmishers across the foreground here, and eventually reaching the farm lane, now part of Rodman Avenue. The sign post seen in the above photo stands along the Pike, just left of center, near the utility pole. The 4th U.S. Infantry's skirmishers reached the high ground on the opposite side of the Pike, threatening the center of the Confederate line. Note the Sunken Road observation tower on the far right horizon.
