British & Hessian Invasion Marker | Additional Description: On November 19 & 20, 1776, the British army landed on the New Jersey shoreline at Closter's Landing. Led by Lord Cornwallis, they proceeded to march south in the direction of Fort Lee with the intention of trapping Washington's army there. They passed this point along the way.
