Additional Description: Early Dutch residents of this area attended the Dutch Reformed Church in Hackensack. Some of these congregants split in 1724 and formed the True Dutch Church here at Schraalenburgh. In 1799, another split resulted in the founding of this Dutch Reformed Church in 1801. "Schraalenburgh" means "scraggly hill" in Dutch.
