Caption: The Indians of Mission San Antonio
Additional Description: The Indians of Mission San Antonio belonged to the Salinan Tribe which was part of the Hokan family. Before the founding of the mission for food they ate fish, reptiles, birds and mammals as well as acorns, wild seeds and berries Mortar and pestle were used for crushing seeds. The Salinan Indians made baskets and rough willow storage receptacles for acorns. Their dwellings were brush huts.
