Caption: Gen. Wm. Lee Davidson Was Killed Marker
Additional Description: Gen. William Lee Davidson was killed during the Battle of Cowan’s Ford in Meckleburg County, North Carolina. He was leading the Salisbury District militia against British and German troops under Gen. Charles Cornwallis as they marched on Charlotte. While rallying his men early in the battle, Gen. Davidson was shot and killed.
