Caption: Iron Furnace used at Muirkirk
Additional Description: Furnace used at Muirkirk Ironworks to manufacture pig iron. The stack measured 38 by 8.5 feed with production capacity of 7,000 tons. The furnace was built in 1847, rebuilt in 1888 after a fire, and eventually closed in 1920, ca. 1921.
