Cap. Swanson Lunsford Marker | Additional Description: Swanson Lunsford served as a captain under “Lighthorse Harry” Lee during the Revolutionary War. He died in 1799 after contracting yellow fever while on a business trip to Charleston, and was buried at this site that was near his home. The land was later bought by the state of South Carolina when the State House was being constructed.
