Reunion
Photographer: Mike Wintermantel
Taken: May 14, 2014
Caption: Reunion
Additional Description: "I flew...from Paris to Portugal to refuel, to Azores to refuel, and again to Newfoundland to refuel, and down to Delaware...I had to report...for final dismissal, but I got some leave so I could meet my wife...She said she'd drive from...where she was staying with her parents in Ohio...and be [in Pittsburgh] when I arrived. I got off the bus and walked in to the hotel and asked if Mrs. McConahey was registered. 'Yes, she is.' Went up to her room...I knocked on the door, my knees very weak. Door opened and there she was. A long separation was over."
