Caption: The Philadelphia Contributionship Plaque
Additional Description: The Philadelphia Contributionship for the infuring of Houfes from Lofs by Fire, Founded A.D. 1752.The joined hands on this plaque appear on firemarks attached to insured buildings. The building owner purchased coverage from the company attached the firemark to the insured building. Should there be a fire, the firemen would respond and if the building contained the firemark they would fight the fire. If the building was not insured, they would watch it burn.
