Caption: 4th Alabama Infantry Attacks
Additional Description: Looking northwest from the marker location. The 4th Alabama advanced against the 2nd Rhode Island Infantry. Today the axis of advance is roughly parallel to the tree line covering the east portion of Matthews Hill. Future landscape restoration may clear these woods to the historical appearance.
