Central Methodist Church Roadside Marker | Additional Description: From the National Register nomination form: "Central Methodist, the first church established in the city of Spartanburg, was founded in 1838 and known as Spartanburg, and has been closely associated with Wofford College since the college was founded in 1854; Benjamin Wofford (1780-1850), a retired Methodist minister and one-time trustee, left an endowment for the college in his will."
