Caption:
12-pdr Confederate Napoleon from Augusta Foundry | Additional Description: The Confederates copied the Federal Napoleon, but with several variations. At least six different types have been identified. This particular example is a "Type 5." The main distinction of the Type 5 is a gradually taipered barrel, without the muzzle swell of the Federal examples. Those manufactured at Augusta also featured cylindrical rimbases. Others from different manufacturers had flared rimbases.
